My FAVORITE SUPPLEMENTS – Round 1 of P90X & Insanity Asylum
Quite regularly I receive emails about the supplements that I took to achieve the results I had with one round of P90X and Insanity Asylum. So, I have decided to type up a quick post to illustrate what supplements I think are important (and that I ACTUALLY USED) during my fitness transformation.
Below, you will find a list of the supplements that I took for the 17 weeks of P90X and Insanity Asylum, along with why I think each supplement is important. This blog is in NO WAY saying that you HAVE to use these supplements to achieve results. However, I am simply saying that I didn’t want to put in all that hard work and time into an incredibly difficult program, like P90X on Asylum, without having these supplements to help me maximize my results.
So, with that said – here are my favorite supplements for Round 1. Feel free to post a comment or question below!
Shakeology = Shakeology is by far my favorite Beachbody supplement. In fact, it’s the only BB supplement on my “MUST HAVE” list. If you have read my story, then you know that I am a school teacher. I had a lot of reservation of trying Shakeology due to its price. However, I desperately wanted to change my body and since BB offers a 30 day guarantee (get your money back no questions asked), I decided to give it a go. I signed up on shakeology home direct, and have been using it pretty much every day since. My wife and I actually go through 2 bags a month, and I HIGHLY recommend that you try it.
When discussing Shakeology with others, it is pretty apparent that there two types of people. One, those who haven’t tried it yet and are concerned over the price, and two, those who have tried it and go on and on about how great it is. Honestly, the only way you’ll ever decide if it works or not is to try it! As I mentioned earlier, Beachbody offers what’s called the “bottom of the bag” guarantee. If you use up the ENTIRE bag and hate it, then you can return the empty package for a full refund – less shipping. That’s not bad deal!
Yes, it is true that it does cost twice the amount of regular whey protein, but it’s got hundreds of nutrients and supplements in it, so comparing it to plain protein powder isn’t a fair comparison. You’ve heard the saying – you pay for what you get, and this is no different. It is not called “The healthiest meal of the day” for no reason. You truly cannot find a healthier meal on the planet!
However, with all of this said – you will need to decide whether Shakeology fits your budget or not. If you want more information on the product, please click HERE.
Whey Protein Powder = This one is fairly obvious! You’re going to need to eat A LOT of protein in order to make your muscles grow. The quality you buy is very important (again – you get what you pay for) in order to give your body what it needs. Beachbody DOES sell some whey protein, but I generally buy mine from GNC or even my local Walmart.
Creatine = In summary, creatine makes your muscles hold more water and draw in more nutrients that your muscles will need for growth and repair. Before taking creatine make sure you do some research and learn all about the proper methods of taking it. You don’t want to take creatine non-stop, and it should be cycled. Do your homework before taking this one!
Glutamine = This is naturally produced by our bodies, and is needed for protein synthesis (making new protein). When you exercise hard it becomes depleted, so its a great idea to “refill” or counter this depletion with a supplement.
Jack3d = (or other pre-workout supplement) – Read my full review of Jack3d right here. Basically, this allows me to work harder and have more gains. In my review, I explain all about how the product works, so make sure and check out my article.
